Toot Arrives

Rebecca Greaves has asked if Sally would ride her horse Toot (Titoki) over the summer for her. She doesn't want him sitting in the paddock doing nothing all summer, so today we went out to Pongaroa and picked him up and had a little jump play.

Korah rode Jasper in the 90cm and the 2 fence challenge

Sally rode Briggs in the 90cm and the 2 fence challenge

Young Horse Show - Hawkes Bay

First time attending the Young Horse Show. We just took Maggie and Tommy this weekend, just the Saturday & Sunday, not Thursday and Friday as well. Was a very relaxing weekend.

Maggie did the Junior Rider on Saturday and had a number of rails. Quite out of character but maybe because it was her first class of the weekend. Previous Junior Riders had been her second start or not at the maximum height. Still very happy with her and Sally. They got 8/75 in the 1:10 Saturday afternoon and had 2 rails in the jump off of the 1:15 on Sunday.

Tommy jumped well all weekend. Had 4 faults in the 1m and 16 faults in the 1:10 in the afternoon. On Sunday Bayly and Tommy had 8 faults in the 1:05. Coped with the related lines and doubles with ease this weekend.

Rewa Sports

First time attending this sports meeting. We had a great day. No Korah today, she had netball trials.

Maggie was 3rd in the 1:15 and 4 faults in the 1:20.

Sally rode Briggs today in the 90cm and was clear in the first round with 4 faults in the jump off (a rail at the first)

Bayly rode Tommy in the 1:05m for 8 faults and the 1:10 for 8 faults. Much better with the related lines and the combinations today.

Feilding I A & P Show

Just Saturday for us today, worked on Friday. Everyone on board today, although Jasper didn't start as he trotted up lame (a bump to his splint).

Potter had 4 faults in the first round of the 1:10m, only two clear rounds. He tried his heart out today.

Tommy had 4 faults in the jump off of the 1m after having an unhappy time in the 1:10m today.

Maggie had 2 rails (8 faults) in the 1:15-1:20 but jumped well.

Nigel rode Briggs today in the 90cm classes. Had 4 faults in the first class and 8 faults in the second class.

We welcomed Masterman (Max) today. We purchased him from Carlene Reid in Papamoa for Bayly

Waipukurau Waipawa Sports

Full truck today with Jasper, Maggie, Briggs, Tommy, Potter and Sunny all on board. Weather held nicely, although it was a little cooler than it had been all week. All the girls rode very well today.

Potter was a super star, winning in the call back jump off against a strong field. With the win they got a trophy and a Canter for Cancer sponsored rug.

Jasper was a class winner too. He won the 90cm class with Korah and then went on to jump his first 1:10 since being injured. Very happy with his effort today.

Maggie was in the winning circle again this weekend getting 3rd in the 1:10 and then had one rail in their first 1:20 start.

Tommy jumped much this weekend, having 2 rails in the 1m class and 2 rails in the 1:10.

Nigel rode Briggs this weekend. He had 8 faults in the 90cm but happy to have him go around looking happy and keen to jump.

Fern and Sunny picked up a handful of ribbons in the kindy ring today.

Central Hawkes Bay A&P Show

Just Saturday for us this weekend, worked Friday. Briggs, Tommy, Potter, Jasper and Maggie on board. Not many videos today.

Maggie had 2 rails in the Junior Rider and then was 2nd in the 1:10 class in the afternoon.

Korah rode Jasper this weekend. Was very nervous and jumped the wrong jump in the 90cm and then in the 1m class the girth was not tight enough and Korah fell when the saddle slipped in the double.

Potter was 5th in the 1m Liddy Memorial class

Bayly has lost a little bit of confidence and had a little bit of trouble on Tommy but got him round both the 1m and 1:10 classes.

Manawatu A&P Show

We weren't in the first classes on Saturday so just went over Saturday morning and stayed the night for Sunday's competition as well. Five on board this weekend. Sally rode Maggie & Jasper, Bayly rode Briggs and Tommy and Korah rode Potter.

Maggie did 2 clear rounds at 1:10 and just 8 faults in the Junior Rider. Again very pleased with how well Sally rode her and how well Maggie went. She was 6th on Saturday in the 1:10 and 8th in the Junior Rider.

Maggie

Sally rode Jasper too quietly in the 1m class on Saturday for 2 stops but they came to life on Sunday in the 1m class going double clear for a 6th placing.

Tommy jumped well, however Bayly had trouble with one line that seemed to stay in the same spot all weekend.

Briggs went double clear in the 80cm and 90cm on Saturday and then double clear again on Sunday in the 80cm.

Potter was again the star of the truck, picking up two placings a 2nd and a 4th for 3 starts, all at 1:10. Was 5th in the 1:10 champ on Sunday.

Wairarapa A&P Show

Went to Carterton for the day today. Everyone wanted to be home to watch the All Blacks in the World Cup Final on Sunday. We had a great day. Both Bayly and Korah jumped in ring 1 for the first time and Sally did her first junior rider class.

Maggie had 4 faults in the 1:10 and although she had 4 rails in the Junior Rider Class we were very happy with how well Sally rode and how well they performed.

Potter had just one rail in the 1:10 in ring 1 and then gave Korah a real hard ride in the 1m class in ring 2 for 4 faults.

Tommy jumped well in the 1:10 in ring 1 and then was really slack in the 1m class in ring 2.

Bayly rode Briggs much better today getting round both the 80cm and the 90cm class.

Wairarapa Show Jumping & Show Hunter

This weekend we had Tommy, Briggs, Maggie and Potter on board.

Tommy jumped well all weekend. Very long courses and to be fair it was probably Bayly's loss of concentration after getting through some tricky combinations and lines that resulted in an uncharacteristic stop in his two 1:10 classes.

Briggs in the 85cm

Maggie was good all weekend. Clear in the 1m & 1:10 on Sunday and just 2 rails in the 1:10 on Monday

Potter was fantastic all weekend. Korah stepped up to 1:10 on Sunday and just had two rails. On Monday they were 3rd in the 1:05

Central Districts Show Jumping & Show Hunter Champs

First official outing of the season and we just went through to Foxton for the day. Tommy & Potter not fit enough yet to stand in the yards all night & jump again the next day but both got prizes in their 90cm classes (their only start).

Maggie started in the 1m for 4 faults and the 1.10 for 8 faults.

Tommy was 6th in the 90cm

Potter was 5th in the 90cm

CHBP Show Jumping Day

Pretty wet as we left Dannevirke this morning but cleared the closer we got to Takapau. Just Maggie on board this morning.

This is only Maggie's second outing with Sally since we purchased her in January. After Levin Maggie got a tendon injury. Very pleased with how they went today. Competed in the 90cm (5th) and the 1m (2nd). Video is the 1m first round & jump off.

Central Districts Show Jumping & Show Hunter Champs

So 5 weeks since our last competitive outing and so was expecting to be a little rusty at Central Districts Show Jumping and Show Hunter Show. Tommy, Potter and Gem were on board as well as Floyd, a horse of Doug's that he is keen for Sally to try.

As expected Tommy was very slack today. He likes the consistency of going every weekend. Bayly rode him well enough but Tommy didn't play his part in the partnership, taking 3 rails in the 1m and a number of rails in the 1:10.

Potter and Korah were double clear in the 90cm for 7th place and double clear in the 1m for 9th place

Gem was clear in the fist round of the 90cm and then Sally thought she had side shift at the first jump in the jump-off. Apparently Gem doesn't come with a side shift button. In the 1m Gem had 8 faults.

Sally rode Floyd for their first competitive outing. They were double clear in the 90cm and had 1 rail in the 1m class in the first round. Floyd was a bit excited in the practice ring to being with but calmed down nicely.

Feilding AI&P Show

Just one mount each for the girls this weekend with Tommy, Potter and Gem onboard.

Gem was 2nd in the 95cm this weekend and just had uncharacteristic rails in the 1:05 classes.

Potter was 6th in the 95cm and 3rd in the 1:05cm on Saturday and 5th in the 1:05 on Sunday.

Tommy jumped 1:50 and 1:10 consistently well again this weekend. Had a couple of rails and a couple of stops. Bayly's confidence just a little low at the moment, but Tommy good and completing the courses.

Dannevirke A&P Show

Still just the 4 onboard this weekend. Jasper and Maggie still lame & we took Briggs but he trotted up lame on Friday down at the show also, so just Tommy, Potter and Gem competing.

Potter was second in the 1:05 on the first day and 5th in the 1:05 on Saturday

Tommy jumped in the 1:05 and 1:10 classes. Had a stop in both heights.

Sally didn't ride Gem very well on Friday but came good on Saturday. Gem was 6th in the 1:05 and 2nd in the 1m class.

Taranaki Showjumping Championships

Just the 4 on board for Hawera. Jasper and Maggie both lame. The weekend was incredibly wet with many going home early. A number of Ring 1 classes were cancelled and ring 3 jumped indoors on Saturday and Sunday. Very dark indoors with brown & green show hunter jumps, not even any white rails. Was a challenging weekend but the equines were as consistent as ever, with the 3 girls bringing home a championship wide ribbon each.

Tommy 4th in the 1:05 Championship

Gem 5th & Potter 2nd in the 1:05 Championship

Tommy had a great show - He had 4 faults in the 1:10 on Friday, 8th in the 1m class on Saturday, 3rd in the 95cm and 4th in the 1:05 champ on Sunday (indoors).

Brigs had a stop in the jump off of the 80cm. In the 90cm he slipped over in the very wet conditions and we didn't start him again.

Potter was 4th in the 1m class on Friday. He wasn't ridden on Saturday as Korah had to go back to Palmy for an appointment and then on Sunday he was 2nd in the 1:05 champ (in doors).

Gem was 3rd in the 95cm on Friday, 5th in the 95cm on Saturday and 3rd in the 1m class and on Sunday indoors she was 5th in the 90cm and 5th in 1:05 championship.

Horowhenua AP&I Show

This time last year the girls were struggling a little. This year the 3 girls have ridden very well and produced consistent rounds for a great show.

This was Maggie's first show with us. Sally rode her in the 90cm and the 1m for clear rounds.

Maggie in the 1m

Gem had 4 faults in the 90cm and 8 faults in the 1:05 and picked up a 2nd in the 1m class.

Gem's jump off in the 1m

Gem in the 1:05cm

Potter was a bit of a handful in the 90cm, clear in the 1m, 3rd in the 95cm and just 4 faults in the 1:05.

Potter in the 1:05cm

Bayly rode amazingly well on both horses. Briggs went well, only having one class though. He had 4 faults at the last fence in the 90cm.

Briggs in the 90cm

Tommy was on form! He had just 4 faults in the 1m and the 1:10 and then 4 faults in the 1:05 jump off. A huge improvement in how Bayly rode him resulting in this.

Tommy in the 1:05cm

Mustering with Gem

With Elsethorpe Sports cancelled thanks to Cyclone Hale Sally and Gem got the cattle in for weighing and dosing. Gem is so versatile!

Central & Southern Hawkes Bay Showjumping

Always a busy show your local one. The girls were great, always helping in the rings when they weren't riding. No Jasper this weekend. He is still lame. Just Briggs, Tommy, Gem and Potter on board. Weather turned on Saturday afternoon making conditions challenging to jump in. Rained so heavily on Saturday night that the show was cancelled on Sunday. Not much videoing or photography because too busy helping run the show.

No classes lower than 90cm for Briggs and Bayly wanted to take Briggs so he jumped 90cm on Friday for one stop and on Saturday jumped 95cm for a rail at A, Bayly pulling him out at B & then a rail at the last. Bayly was way more confident on him this weekend.

Tommy was really slack this weekend (still enjoying Christmas Holidays!) He jumped 1m on Friday for 5 rails and 1:05 on Saturday for 5 rails. Not Tommy's best weekend!

Gem jumped well both Friday and Saturday. She was 3rd in the 90cm and just 4 faults in the 1m. She had 4 faults again on Saturday in the 1m.

Potter was amazing. Had 4 faults in the 90cm on Friday and was 5th in the 1m class. On Saturday he had a number of faults in the 90cm and clear in the 1m.
