Horowhenua AP & I Royal Show

Truck and float again this weekend, 7 on board; Brigs, Jasper, Maggie, Max Potter, Tommy & Toot. Had a great day on Saturday, in the heat. Girls rode well and the horses jumped well.

Maggie was clear in both the first round of the 1:15 and the Junior Rider. Had 4 faults in the jump off of both classes but finished 4th in the Junior Rider. On Sunday Maggie and Sally parted company when they both decided to go different ways!

Jasper jumped with both Korah and Sally again this weekend. He was 2nd with Korah in the 90cm and had 2 rails with Sally in the 1:20. (no video of Korah and Jasper this weekend).

Toot was 5th in the 1m class and had a rail in the jump off of the 1:10 on Saturday. On Sunday the 1:10 was in ring 1 and he just had 2 rails.

Max jumped super all weekend again. He went in the 90cm, 1m on Saturday and on Sunday was 4th in the 1:05.

Tommy jumped well on Saturday for 8 faults in both the 1m and the 1:10 but it was not his day on Sunday. The heat probably got to Tommy.

Potter had a 4fault weekend, which is out of character for him. Very busy ring for Potter who even though is very experienced he has a tendency to think he has never seen anything outside the arena before and very tight courses for Potter and Korah.

Briggs was good again on Saturday, picking up a 2nd in the 90cm and one rail in the 1m. On Sunday he decided that there was not enough room to get a decent rhythm going (and I would have to agree!)

Elsthorpe Sports

Super hot day at Elsthorpe Sports; 32 degrees! We had a super day with a truck and float load today. Sunny on board today for the kindy ring and she was very well behaved again!

Sunny got a neck full of ribbons in the kindy ring with Fern.

Jasper won the 1m class with Korah, who did some super corners in the jump off and then the 1:15 with Sally in the afternoon. Although he had 2 slack rails he jumped much better and didn't run out of puff!

Toot was 2nd in the 1:05 class (after Bayly reminded Sally to jump the double in the 2nd phase) and had 2 rails in the jump off of the 1:10.

Tommy won the 1:05 and then the heat got to him in the 1:10 having 3 rails.

Maggie was not at her best today. She had 2 rails in the 2nd phase of the 1:15 and 4 rails in the 1:20. Maybe it was too hot for her.

Potter was good and stepped up to 1:15 today. He was 2nd in the 1:15 with four faults and 3rd in the 1:10 with 4 faults.

Max won the 90cm class before the heat got to him too! He had 2 rails in the 1m class but Bayly was very happy to step up to this height in only their 2nd outing.

Briggs again came to the party (2 weeks in a row!) He was 2nd in the 90cm and had 2 rails in the 1m.

C&SHB Showjumping Champs

A huge weekend all round. A three day show, seven equines on board this weekend and our local! The girls rode amazing this weekend, all picking up multiple prizes and the horses looked, behaved and jumped amazing!

Max had his first offical weekend with Bayly. He jumped 90cm for a clear round ribbon on Friday, 95cm on Saturday for a clear round ribbon and 95cm for a 2nd on Sunday. Bayly was stoked!

Tommy did the 1m class on Friday for a rail at the last, 1:10 on Saturday for a rail at the first of the double and the 1:10 on Sunday for 2 rails. Bayly rode him so well this weekend!

Potter was his usual consistent self. He was double clear on Friday in the 1m for a 5th placing, had 4 faults in the jump off in the 1:05, had 4 faults in the 1:10 A2 on Saturday and was 4th in the 1:05 on Sunday. He was feeling so good showing it with some playful bucks in the lap of honours and half way round the course on Friday afternoon!

Korah rode Jasper in the 90cm on Friday for a 5th placing, in the 90cm on Saturday for a 6th and in the 95cm on Sunday for a double clear. They both looked to be having heaps of fun!

Sally rode Jasper (Jasper had a busy weekend) in the 1:15 on Friday for a stop and a rail in the 2nd phase, in the 1:20 on Saturday where they didn't quite finish the course and on Sunday they had 2 stops in the mini prix (Sal didn't ride him so well in this class). Jasper jumped amazing and with a very limited start to the season we were very happy with his efforts. Sally needs to be on his case a little more and keep the canter coming!

Maggie jumped amazing again this weekend. Her first junior rider class at a premier show and she was as brave as always! On Friday she had 2 rails in the 2nd phase of the 1:15, 8 faults on Saturday in the 1:20 A2 class and although it sounds a lot with 4 rails in the Junior Rider on Sunday we were very happy with this combination!

Briggs finally came to the party! He jumped 3 super rounds going clear in the 90cm on Friday for a clear round ribbon, a woopies at the first in the 95cm on Saturday and just a rail in the 95cm jump off on Sunday for 4th. Very pleased with his efforts this weekend and stoked that he didn't throw in the towel on Sunday!

Toot had his first outing with us this weekend. Rebecca was there on Friday to see him just take a rail in the 1m jump off, he was 3rd in the 1:05 on Saturday and with a rail in the jump off of the 1:05 on Sunday he still finished 4th. Very cool little horse!
