Pony Club

Just Fern & Sunny at pony club today. We had lots of fun practicing game skills and then putting them into a game situation.

Wellington Horowhenua Showjumping & Showhunter Championships

Everyone on board this weekend again. Only the Saturday competing for us; Sally & Bayly left for school camp at Curious Cove very early Sunday morning. Lots of ups and downs today.

Gem was the super star. Sally is riding her very well at the moment. Gem was 5th in the 90cm pony and then Sally tells me there were two 'ganster' corners (that no one else in the class did) in the jump-off to get 7th. Today there were just too many gallopers for her to be rewarded. I remind Sally we have no term goals of jumping higher!

Potter was very good today too. He was double clear in the 90cm and had a rail in the jump-off of the 1m. Korah gets a little nervous in the 1m and needs to remember to let him move forward more.

Tommy was in a funny mood today. He had been in the wars through the week but seemed to be okay. He didn't get a warm up round at 1m and started in ring 2 at 1:10. Tough ride for Bayly today but she rode him well.

Bayly nervous starting Briggs. No 80cm warm up round today but they started so well. Just lost some concentration after the double and Briggs stopped. Otherwise a definite step forward today.

Bit gutted with how Sally rode Jasper today. He started in the 1:10 and Sally wasn't concentrating properly (lots contributed to this including having to go out of draw order because others were not ready) and he stopped at the 2nd jump. He jump super apart from that.

Waipukurau Waipawa Sports

Gem was also a super star again today. Double clear in the 90cm and had the last rail in the 1m but fastest jump off time.

Jasper was a super star winning the 1:10 today. Tough class to win, not the fastest in the jump off but fastest clear

Briggs was good today. Clear rounds in the 70cm and 80cm. Great confidence boost for Bayly.

Potter was good again too. He was double clear in the 90cm and just wouldn't come round the corner to the last in the jump off for the 1m.

Tommy had his first start of the season at 1:10. Bayly was really nervous and just chased him a bit (scared all of us watching). He is such a great horse for Bayly.

Sunny and Fern competed in the kindy ring today and got lots of ribbons.

CHB A&P Show November 2022

Had last weekend off to take the girls to Christchurch and watch the Fast Five netball so all equines keen for an outing. Just attended the Saturday of the show.

Japser was 4th in the Mini Prix with 4 faults at the first fence in the jump off. He went in the grand prix again today but didn't finish. Jumped well up to fence 9, a double off the corner and Sally missed it both times. Sally rode well till here and Jasper jumped well up to here as well.

Briggs just had the first rail in the 80cm

Tommy had the very last rail in the 1m of the 2 phase class to finish 5th

Potter was a super star. Double clear in the 90cm for 5th and then double clear in the 1m Liddy Memorial for 5th

Gem was second in the 90cm - the only class she was eligible for today (Liddy Memorial rules)

Wairarapa A&P Show Carterton 2022

Went down Friday night to ride Saturday and Sunday. Jasper had his first grand prix start of the season and everyone else competed consistently well again.

Jasper won the 1:10 speed class and then had 1 rail (4 faults) in the mini prix in the first round.

Jasper had a few rails in the grand prix but we were happy with his attitude today and how well Sally rode him.

Gem was second in the 90cm A2 and won the 90cm AM5. She has started the season very consistently.

Korah had been away on school camp for the week so the combination between her and Potter was a little rusty on Saturday but came good on Sunday to place 4th in the 90cm AM5.

On Saturday Tommy had 4 faults in the 1m A2 and 8 faults (skidded into the A of the double) in the 1m AM5 on Sunday

Briggs had 8 faults (2 rails) in the 80cm A1 on Saturday and got 4th in the 80cm AM5 on Sunday

Gem was clear in the 95cm A1 and had the first rail in the jump-off on Sunday in the 95cm

Jasper has started the season well. Had a rail in the first round of the 1.10 AM5 and had a rail and a stop in the mini prix on Sunday

Glistening Waters ESNZ Series Finals

No classes for Bella at Series Finals so just 5 on the truck this weekend.

Bayly and Briggs finished 3rd in the 90cm on Saturday, and had 4 faults in the 95cm on Sunday.

Bayly and Tommy had a weekend of rails although Bayly still rode him well. They finished with 4 faults in the first round of the special 2 phase 1.10 on Friday (& then 4 more rails in the jump off) clear in the first round of the 1.05 (& then 3 rails in the jump off). Tommy had 6 rails in the first round of 2 in the 1.10 Championship so did not qualify for Sundays final. In the 1.10 on Sunday Tommy had 5 rails. Tommy really didn't save his best for the last show!

Korah and Potter finished 5th in the 90cm on Friday with a double clear round and then was double clear in their first 1m class together. They finished 10th on Saturday in the 90cm with a double clear and had 8 faults in the 1m class. They finished 6th in the 95cm on Sunday.

Sally and Gem finished 6th in the 90cm and had 8 faults in the 1m class and on Sunday finished 5th in the 95cm class.

In shocking conditions (wet and cold & very late in the afternoon), Sally and Jasper competed in the 1.20 Welcome Stakes; jumped super, just having trouble at the double. He had 4 faults in the jump off of the 1.10 to finish 7th, and in the 2 round 1.10 Championship (held over 2 days), Jasper had a clear round in the first round to qualify for the final on Sunday. He went double clear to finish 3rd. He finished with 4 faults in the first round of the mini prix to finish 6th. Jasper saved his best for the season for the final show!

Ashurst Sports

Low key day at Ashurst pony club sports today. Jasper, Tommy & Ellie got the day off today. Was a great opportunity to give Bayly another outing on Briggs and Fern got to ride today to. Fern (3 years) was also in charge of the camera when Potter and Gem jumped!

Briggs was 4th in the 80cm & 3rd in the 90cm

Bella was clear in the 70cm and the 80cm

Potter was clear in the 80cm and picked up 3rd place in the 90cm

Sunny got a heap of ribbons in the kindy ring

Gem jumped in the 80cm and the 90cm (there was nothing higher on the programme)

North Island Show Jumping Championships

Had to take the truck and the horse float this weekend. Managed to get the day off work to attend all 3 days of the championships in Foxton. This was Bayly's first outing on Briggs. We had a very mixed weekend. All three girls had very unlucky falls and then picked up a couple of rails.

Briggs was double clear in the 80cm on Friday, bucked Bayly off in the 90cm on Saturday and then got 6th in the 95cm on the Sunday.

Tommy had 4 faults in the jump off in the 1m, 12 faults in the 1.10 (2 phase) on Friday, 16 faults in the 1.10, 8 faults in the 1m on Saturday and 8 faults in the 1.10 on the Sunday.

Bella had the "don't boss me around attitude" at the weekend with a couple of soft stops & a very unlucky rail in the 75cm on Sunday.

Potter was a star again! He was 5th in the 80cm & 7th in the 90cm on Friday, 8th in the 80cm & 10th in the 90cm on Saturday and 7th in 95cm on Sunday. So very consistent this combination.

This is the 95cm jump off

Jasper had 4 faults in the 1:15 & 8 faults in the jump off of the 1:10 on Friday, & a rail in the speed 1.20 on Saturday with 12 faults in the mini prix 1.15-1.20 on Sunday (Sally injured foot)

A mixed bag for Gem this weekend. 4 faults in the 90cm on Friday, 5th in the 90cm on and then an unfortunate fall in the 1m on Saturday (tripped on the top rail of the B in the double), 12 faults in the 1m on Sunday and 4 faults in the 95cm on Sunday. Unfortuntaely no photos or video of Gem over the weekend.

Northern Hawkes Bay Show Jumping Pop-up Show

Just Sally on board this weekend with Gem, Jasper and Tommy. Bayly and Korah were put into isolation because of Covid - Omricon. Philippa was our support person and really pleased to be able to attend an event! Sally rode much better (on the whole) this weekend.

Jasper jumped amazing in the 1:15-1:20 on Saturday just having the very last rail on Saturday. On Sunday he had one stop at fence 6. Sally just got too slow but they recovered well to finish strong. Very pleased with their improvement this weekend.

Gem was clear in the 1m A2 on Saturday (too slow) and finished 3rd in the 1:05 on the Sunday.

Sally rode Tommy for the first time. In the 1m and the 1:10 on the Saturday they had 3 rails. On Sunday they had one rail in the 1:10 in the first round.

Feilding AI&P Show

Feilding hosted an extra show this weekend. Everyone was on board and had a good weekend even though we worked pretty hard to help Feilding run their show.

Ellie was a bit of pratt at Feilding but went clear in the 90cm class on Sunday with Bayly (out of character) jumping the wrong jump in the jump off.  No photos or videos this weekend of Ellie

Gem picked up a 2nd in the pony 1m and had 4 faults (rails) in the jump off of the other 1m classes.

Jasper behaved far better (at last) and did his first clear round indoors in the 1:15 pony (had 2 rails in the jumpoff though). He picked up a 3rd in the 1:10 class (outside).

Tommy had 8 faults in the jump off the 1:05, had 12 faults in the 1:10 on Saturday and 4 rails in the 1:10 on Sunday.

Potter was 8th with a double clear round in the 80cm, 9th in the 90cm, and clear in the 90cm on Sunday

Bella was double clear in the 80cm and a rat bag on Sunday.

Wairarapa SJ & SH Championships

All on board this weekend. Tommy, Ellie (unwell with eczema on her nose), Jasper, Gem, Potter & Bella.

Tommy recovered from his shoe prick to make the trip to Masterton.  He had 8 faults in the 1.05 & 1.10 on Saturday and was really slack on Sunday picking up 5 rails in the 1.10.

Elie had 2 rails in the 1m class on Saturday and then retired on the Sunday (too miserable with the excema)

Potter was 5th in the 80cm, double clear in the 90cm (A1) on Saturday & 6th in the 80cm & double clear in the 95cm on the Sunday.

95 cm Jump Off

Bella had a run out in the jump off in the 80cm on Saturday & the last rail in the 80cm on the Sunday.

Jasper just had the naughty circle at the gate in the 1:10 & a rail in the 1:15 on Saturday. He won the 1:05 on Sunday & had a rail at the A resulting in a stop at the B in the mini prix.

Gem had 8 faults in the 1m on the Saturday & failed to finish the 1:05 on Sunday. Sally really struggling to see a stride on Gem.
